1) Overview
IR Blaster (“the App”) is an Android application for creating, managing, and transmitting infrared (IR) signals
through multiple output methods, including a device's built-in IR emitter, supported USB IR dongles, and
audio-to-IR LED adapters. The App also supports importing/exporting remote configurations, including
Flipper Zero .ir files and JSON backups.
2) Data We Collect
IR Blaster does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data. We do not require accounts, and we do not collect your name, email address (beyond what you send us), phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, or biometric data.
3) Information the App Processes (On Device Only)
To provide functionality, the App may process the following data locally on your device:
- IR remote configurations you create (protocol choices, parameters, raw mark/space timings).
- Imported files you choose to open (e.g., Flipper Zero
.irfiles, JSON backups). - Exported backups you generate (e.g., JSON exports saved to your chosen folder).
- Transmitter settings (selected transmitter type, preferences, optional auto-switch configuration).
- Connected hardware state required to transmit IR (e.g., whether a USB dongle is attached/authorized).
This data is used only to operate the App’s features (remote management, signal testing/bruteforcing, and IR transmission). The App does not send your remote libraries or signals to the developer or third parties.
4) Permissions
USB device access USB dongle support
If you use a supported USB IR dongle, the App may request permission to access the connected USB device. This permission is used solely to discover, open, and communicate with the dongle for IR transmission.
Audio output Audio-to-IR adapters
If you use Audio IR modes, the App uses Android audio output to generate tones/signal patterns for a compatible audio-to-IR LED adapter. The App does not record audio and does not access the microphone for this feature.
All files access / storage access Import / export
The App may request broad storage access (commonly referred to as “All files access”) only to allow you to
import and export your remote configuration files (e.g., JSON backups, Flipper Zero .ir files)
to locations you choose on your device.
We do not use storage access to collect personal information. File access is initiated by you (for example, when you choose Import or Export).
5) Data Storage
IR Blaster stores your remotes and settings on your device so the App can function offline.
6) Network Access
The App's core features (creating remotes, importing/exporting, transmitting IR via internal/USB/audio) work without sending your data to us.
If the App includes optional links (e.g., opening a website, viewing documentation, downloading releases), those actions occur only when you choose them.
7) Third-Party Services
IR Blaster does not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or tracking tools.
8) Data Sharing
We do not sell your data. We do not share your remote libraries, IR signals, or imported/exported files with third parties.
9) Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect app changes or legal requirements. We will update the “Effective date” above when changes are made.
